The Galapagos Islands (The Bewitched Islands)
My husband and I were residing in Panama,in 1985,
due to my husband's company's transfer.
We visited the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
(whose name means Tortoises in Spanis) because
we wished to have splendid memories of our last journey
around Central and South America.
The reason for our choice of the Galapagos Islands,
was not for scientific reasons but simply because
the islands are relatively inaccessible, especially from Japan.
Once we had stepped onto the islands, we were overwhelmed
by the divine scenery and the pure solemnity which was
refreshing after the mundane workaday world.
It was truly an undefiled paradise for wildlife.
The Galapagos is an isolated volcanic archipelago,
formed by 21 different islands,
located 1.000 kilometers west of Ecuador.
Charles Darwin in "The Origin of Species" portrayed
the Galapagos Islands as a wild laboratory of all the biology
and botany which has survived in the earth.
His ideas presented an opportunity to examine" Evolution"
in a different manner.
In this CD, I represent the visual images of the unusual views
and most unique animals of the Galapagos Islands.
These views are pictured in my mind during the visit
and also express frankly my impression of how I am fascinated
and moved very deeply by them.
